Jake Cohen | Maccabi Tel Aviv & Davidson Legend | The Baseline

In this episode of The Baseline, we sit down with Jake Cohen — a Maccabi Tel Aviv legend, longtime overseas professional, and former Davidson College standout who spent four seasons competing at the NCAA level before building an elite career in Europe.
Jake reflects on his journey from college basketball in the U.S. to becoming a staple in Israeli basketball, including championship years with Maccabi Tel Aviv, a season playing in Greece, and another competing in Spain. He opens up about the realities of sustaining a long overseas career, adapting to different basketball cultures, and what it truly takes to last at the highest level outside the NBA.
Now retired, Jake shares his transition into financial advisory work, where he focuses on helping professional athletes make smarter financial decisions during their playing careers — with the goal of setting them up for success long after basketball ends. His perspective offers rare insight into the business side of sports, money management, and life after the game.
Whether you’re an overseas pro, a college player thinking about Europe, or a fan of international basketball, this episode delivers real lessons from someone who has lived every stage of the journey.
