New Williams: From Setback to Overseas Star

Professional basketball player “New” Williams joins The Baseline Podcast to share the story behind his journey through the basketball world — from overcoming a torn ACL, to becoming an elite dunker, to building a successful professional career overseas.

New’s path hasn’t been traditional. After suffering a major knee injury in high school, he rebuilt his game and developed a reputation as one of the most explosive athletes on the court. He went on to play college basketball at Auburn and Fresno State, competed in 3-on-3 tournaments and Ball Is Life events, and eventually turned his game into a professional career overseas.

Now playing professionally and averaging over 20 points per game in Turkey, New opens up about the mental side of basketball, using the game as a release, and what it really takes to succeed as an overseas pro.

We talk about the grind of playing internationally, the mindset needed to bounce back from injuries, and how basketball can become both a purpose and a form of expression.

If you want to hear the real story behind life as a professional basketball player abroad, this episode is for you.
